Cosmetic Dentistry: 5 Before & After Photos

Many people don't know this, but dentists are more than people who treat toothaches and gum diseases. We're invested in your health, but we also care about your overall wellbeing - and that includes self-confidence. Cosmetic dentistry is a safe and common practice that improves the appearance of teeth, gums and bite. Like all cosmetic procedures, there are some that are done for appearance alone, and others for increased comfort or confidence. At Hobsonville Point Dental, we have a special interest in both. Check out these before and after photos to see the difference cosmetic dentistry can make to a smile and a life.

Removing White Marks

Splotchy white marks on teeth are caused by hypomineralized enamel, which is enamel that has formed in a disorganized way with less mineralization. These white marks were treated with tooth whitening followed by a DMG Icon procedure, which gently removed them.

Treating Decay and Gum Infection

In this case, the join between the old crowns and the front teeth was decaying, so new dental crowns were placed, making the smile appear whiter and fuller. The gaps around the old crowns (due to decay) had trapped food and led to poor gum health, so the area was professionally cleaned. The placement of the new dental crowns meant the gum tissue could recover easily and quickly. Tooth decay and gum infection can be caused by many things, such as not brushing and flossing enough, and eating too many sugary snacks.

Fixed Snapped Cusp and Removal of Old Mercury Filling

A cusp is one of the raised parts of the biting surface of molar and premolar teeth. They are capable of breaking during chewing certain foods, especially if the tooth has been treated earlier in its life with a filling. This snapped cusp was restored, and an old mercury filling was removed at the same time by placing an emax porcelain overlay crown. The process required minimal preparation, but a wholly effective solution to two problems.

Mercury fillings, in particular, can cause stress fractures in a tooth which can lead to tooth snapping. How to Remove Mercury or Silver Fillings

Repairing Accident Damaged Teeth

If part of a tooth is still intact, we can repair broken teeth with composite white fillings.

Restoring Missing Tooth

A missing canine was repaired with a dental implant. Dental implants are natural-looking tooth replacements that are basically pretty much as strong as real teeth. It can be used to replace teeth that have been lost in an accident, through decay, or as a result of a gum infection.

If you need a tooth repaired, gums restored, or you want your overall smile enhanced, visit Hobsonsville Dental. We specialize in teeth whitening, dentures, fastbraces and more.
